June Beauty Favorites 2013

I have been living for the past 2 weeks on a (very comfy) couch at my friend Kaitlyn's apartment while my brother was closing on his townhouse that I am going to be moving into next weekend for an undisclosed amount of time. I brought nearly every beauty item I own with me because I a) am a girl and that's just what we do, and b) was afraid I would need something and then find out I didn't have it here. Of course, I haven't touched the majority of what I brought, and poor Kaitlyn has been left starring at a giant, Mt. Everest-sized pile of my crap in the corner of her 1 bedroom apartment (did I mention I also brought practically every piece of clothing). On top of that, I've picked up a few new things being that Ulta is literally a short (obnoxiously uphill) walk away. Exercise for my glutes and a beauty mecca at the same time? Can't beat that, unless, of course, you added a fro-yo place along the way.

My June beauty favorites are a mash of things I already owned and products I picked up since my move.

First is a product I've been wanting for a few months now, but without having lived close to a Sephora, I decided to wait until I moved. Literally the day I arrived in Atlanta, I bought the Sephora brand Supreme Cleansing Oil.  I use this in the evenings to remove all of my makeup, and it does such an amazing job!! I've especially been impressed with how it removes my waterproof mascara. It does have mineral oil in it, so I always follow up with a good cleanser (currently, my Philosophy Purity mini bottle).

Keeping with the Sephora theme, I also repurchased my favorite eyeliner, the Sephora brand waterproof, retractable eyeliner. I bought it in matte brown/black, brown, and black (not very adventurous, I know). This is my favorite because I can put it in my tight line and it doesn't run into my eyes and make my contacts all blurry like most of the popular waterproof eyeliners (eh hem, Urban Decay).

I also picked up the Sephora brand Targeted Eye Remover Swabs. These little things are genius. I spend 90% of my days now in the car, so I pop these in my bag and they are PERFECT for quick touch-ups of rogue mascara or eyeliner in the middle of the day. The middle of the swab is filled with makeup remover, and you snap one end and it all goes down into the other end of the cotton swab, so you can then touch up your makeup. SERIOUSLY my new favorite thing ever.

In June's Ipsy bag, I received my first NYX blush. I had been wanting to try them for awhile because I've heard great things about them in both price and quality. The color I received was Angel, and I have been using this most days to add a bit of color to my cheeks. It really is such a great quality blush that won't break the bank. Angel is a soft peach color with a little bit of gold shimmer. Great for summer!

Let's visit the drugstore now. I have been playing a lot lately with foundations and my current go-to is the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 foundation. It has SPF 20 which is great for this nasty hot weather (not so great for flash photography, though). I am in shade 825, buff beige, which I think matches my skin really well. It gives great coverage (I'd say medium, but buildable), and I don't have a problem with it coming off in the middle of the day as I'm in and out of the car. It also doesn't look or feel like I'm wearing a ton of makeup.

Oh the new love of my life is certainly none other than the Pixi Corrector in Brightening Peach. I got this bad boy from Target in hopes I would love it and not have to mega-splurge on the Bobbi Brown corrector. Thank goodness I love it. I have mentioned before that the biggest insecurity I have in terms of my skin is my dark under eye circles. They are DARK, y'all...always. I could hibernate for days, and I'd still look like I hadn't slept in a month. People always tell me I look sick when I'm not wearing any makeup and they ask me if I'm feeling okay. Yep, I just have vampire under-eyes, no big. This is a thick peach-toned corrector (think concealer) that masks the deep blue/purple tones of under-eye circles. I put it on after primer and before foundation to even everything out and WOW! I look so much more alive!! I also don't have to use nearly as much under eye concealer (after foundation) anymore. Be careful not to put too much on and to blend it really well to avoid a cakey look. I like to put my primer on first to smooth it all out to help avoid it settling into those fine lines.

Speaking of primers, I also bit the bullet and purchased a high-end primer, the Benefit Pore-fessional primer. I had tried the drugstore kind, but didn't notice any results, and I just truly love how evened out this makes my skin feel and how much longer my makeup lasts. It helps diminish the look of large pores and feel silky to the touch. I use it mostly on my forehead, nose and part of my cheeks.

This month I've been reaching a lot for my Flower brand (the Drew Barrymore line at WalMart) Lip Service lip butter (think Maybelline color whisper). I only have one and I honestly couldn't tell you what shade it is in, because it doesn't say it anywhere on the packaging (fix that, please!). I really enjoy the way it applies, and it is another nice option as a sheer, moisturizing wash of color. Plus, for all you animal lovers out there, they don't test on animals!

And lastly, the nails. My color OBSESSION of the past month is China Glaze's Pink Voltage. WOW!!! A friend of mine had gotten her nails done and I couldn't stop staring at the color, but she didn't know what shade it was in, although we narrowed down that it was by China Glaze. I went on a hunt for it and although the color I bought ended up not being the right one, I was still in love with it. The best way I can describe this color is that it is BARBIE pink. Think the classic Barbie pink pumps...it is that color and FREAKING GORGEOUS!!!  On top, I am head-over-heels for the Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. It really does dry uber fast, which is great for impatient girls like me who can't sit still long enough to allow the polish to dry completely.

PHEW! That was a lot, but I felt like these were all worth mentioning. I hope you've enjoyed my ramblings!! Let me know below what YOUR favorite must-have products for the month of June have been!!

Love, love!
